New Growth
Innovation Direction

  • Reinforcement of Competitive Power for Quality

As we confront big changes, such as the transition to new mobility, the implementation of net-zero, and constantly changing consumer demands, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has been consistently developing new products and materials to provide proactive solutions through close communication with customers. In order to meet the quality expectation of customers, we produce high-intensity, high-strength, and ultra-light products.

  • Securing New Business

We constantly find ways to develop materials that contribute to reducing GHG emissions and energy use in the mobility industry. We secure global competitiveness through new businesses such as TANSOME®, which has lightweight material properties, and ALKEX®, which has high-strength properties.

  • Sustainable Next-generation Materials

By using conventional raw materials from petrochemical sources, HS Hyosung Advanced Materials focuses on developing and commercializing products made from sustainable materials to help solve issues such as resource depletion and environmental pollution to expand the business portfolio. We conduct research to develop and commercialize products using recycled materials such as discarded plastic or waste steel, bio-based materials, and materials extracted from wood.

  • Realization of Circular Economy

At HS Hyosung Advanced Materials, we aim at making our products recyclable and ensuring the circulation of limited resources. We are preparing for a green product business by simplifying raw materials for product components to reduce carbon emissions and realize a circular economy.

    Carbon Fiber

TANSOME® is a key material in automotive light weighting as a lightweight and ultra-tensile material that is 10 times stronger and 4 times lighter than steel. TANSOME® contributes to reducing GHG emissions by increasing the fuel economy from light weighting. It particularly will contribute to activating new and renewable energy industries through its application to green energy industries, such as high-pressure storage vessels for hydrogen, which requires hydrogen energy—the trending green energy. As the global demand for carbon neutrality rises, the energy sector, such as hydrogen tanks and wind turbines, and the automotive sector, where the demand for light weighting will increase, are anticipated to drive the expansion of TANSOME®.

    Aramid Yarn

ALKEX®, which was created with the company's own technology in 2003 and effectively commercialized in 2009, is currently utilized in bulletproof, automobile rubber reinforcement, and industrial applications. We aspire to become a successful solution provider that meets customer needs with more diverse and differentiated products.

  • Tire Reinforcements

HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has developed and manufactures products with 10–20% greater strength and tension than in the past. This allows our customers to manufacture low-carbon products by reducing the usage of materials.

Technical Yarn / Automotive Carpet / Textile Tire Cord

HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has developed a bio-based PET yarn made from polyester material created with bio-based EG derived through catalytic reaction and fermentation using sugarcane and corn as opposed to crude oil-based EG used as a polyester raw material. Our successfully commercialized products are applied to various industries, including tires and automotive carpets for new mobility such as electric and hydrogen vehicles.

Technical Yarn / Automotive Carpet / Textile Tire Cord

HS Hyosung Advanced Materials has developed High-tensile recycled PET yarn from waste PET bottles and obtained the GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification from an international certification organization. In addition, we have begun developing Automotive floor carpet using Recycled BCF and supplying Recycled PET tire cord. In addition to waste PET bottles, we also utilize discarded fishnets, spinning process waste, and process waste generated from recycled chip companies as recycled chips. We are continuously conducting R&D to enlarge our portfolio of recycled products.

  • Steel Cord

HS Hyosung Advanced Materials strives to reduce carbon emissions in accordance with the life cycle assessment (LCA), which evaluates all environmental impacts from the production of raw materials to product shipment. We produce steel cords for tire reinforcement using wire rods made through an electric furnace production system that discharges less carbon than blast furnaces in order to reduce emissions at the raw material stage.

  • Lyocell Tire Cord

We produce Lyocell tire cords using cellulose extracted from wood. Compared to rayon or nylon tire cords, Lyocell tire cords emit fewer GHG emissions and produce almost no harmful substances, such as carbon disulfide and hydrogen sulfide, thereby preventing air and water pollution caused by the production and treatment of harmful substances.
